About

Erasmus Student Network (ESN) is the biggest student association in Europe. It was born on  October 16, 1989, and legally registered in 1990 for supporting and developing student exchange. It is present in more than 500 Higher Education Institutions from 39 countries. The network is constantly developing and expanding. We have around 14.500 active members that are in many sections supported by so called buddies mainly taking care of international students. Thus, ESN involves around 34.000 young people offering its services to around 190.000 international students every year.
ESN’s aim is to enhance the practical and social integration of the international students and to represent their rights and needs at a local, national and international level. ESN also promotes exchange study opportunities and takes care of the reintegration of the returning students after an educational experience abroad.

ESN Timișoara is a section of Erasmus Student Network in charge of the incoming Erasmus and international students in the city of Timisoara. The section got recognized by ESN Romania in December 2011 and at an international level by ESN International in January 2012. The activity of the section is currently developed by its 25 active members who work as volunteers.

The members of ESN Timisoara do not have any financial benefits out of their activity in the section and do this job out of the pleasure of helping the international students, and contributing to an intercultural dialogue between them and the local community.

The board is the decision body of the ESN section, the one who leads the group of volunteers and manages the activity of the section. ESN Timisoara's board members take care of organizing activities for the international students in the city and for the ex-Erasmus Romanian students. Their main aim is to contribute to the social (re)integration of both groups.
